The Collective Unconscious

Dive into the mysterious depths of Carl Jung’s most profound psychological insight — the Collective Unconscious.
Carl Jung's concept of the collective unconscious is the deepest layer of the human psyche, containing universal, inherited memories, instincts, and symbols common to all humanity. Unlike the personal unconscious, which holds an individual's repressed or forgotten memories, the collective unconscious is not shaped by personal experience. Jung proposed that this shared reservoir explains why mythological themes, motifs, and symbols—such as the hero's journey, the wise old man, and the mother figure—appear across entirely disconnected cultures and time periods. These universal patterns are called archetypes.
