Carl Jung: The Unconscious Is Running Your Life

August 6, 2026

Why do we continue repeating behaviours we consciously want to change?

We may understand which habits are damaging us, know which decisions must be made and sincerely intend to act differently. Yet when action is required, motivation weakens, avoidance returns and the same psychological patterns reappear. This video explores the gap between conscious intention and unconscious resistance through the psychology of Carl Jung. It examines why motivation and willpower often produce only temporary change, how procrastination, perfectionism, people-pleasing and compulsive behaviour can serve protective functions, and why the psyche may resist the very future we consciously desire. The unconscious is not simply an archive of forgotten memories. It becomes visible through repetition, disproportionate emotional reactions, projection, complexes and the behaviours that survive every conscious resolution. Lasting change begins when we stop asking only how to force ourselves to act and begin asking what our resistance is attempting to protect us from.
